Thomas J. Lavelle, Sr., 92 of Groveville, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Clare Estates in Bordentown.
Born in Avoca, PA, Tom was a World War II Veteran. He moved to the Trenton area in 1952, then moving to Groveville in 1954, residing there for the next sixty years.
Tom and his wife were longtime and original members of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Yardville. He retired from U.S. Steel with over 30 years of service. In his spare time he enjoyed collecting antique cars, and was a member of the Central Jersey Antique Car Club.
Son of the late Thomas D. and Margaret McDonald Lavelle, wife of the late Sylvia J. Lavelle, and father of the late Diane, he is survived by his three sons and their spouses, Deacon Thomas and Patricia Lavelle, Jr., David and Julie Lavelle, and Michael and Jill Lavelle; six grandchildren, Bridget Csolak and husband Eric, Colleen Donzi and husband Jim, Ken Moeser and wife Lenore, and Rebecca, Sean, and Evan Lavelle; five great grandchildren, Madeline and Joshua Csolak, and Preston and Mirielle Donzi, and Emily Moeser; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Thursday morning; March 28, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Buklad Yardville Memorial Chapel, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at St. Vincent DePaul Church in Yardville. Burial will follow in Crosswicks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
