Susan Kane

July 15, 1954 - April 21, 2021

Susan Frances (Christensen) Kane, 66, of Bordentown, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Susan moved to New Jersey with her family when she was 5 years old. She was educated in Catholic School until graduating from Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, NJ where she was in the school choir.

Susan was a free spirited artist and lived her life in the service of helping others. As soon as she was old enough she started volunteering as a candy striper at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. She took care of the elderly and was a sponsor to many people in AA for over a decade while living in Las Vegas, NV where she raised her only daughter. Later, she obtained a nursing degree in Scranton, PA and worked for five years at a nursing home. She worked for Bayada Home Health Care for the past 17 years, where she was blessed to become a member of the family for whom she provided care.

A force of nature lighting up most rooms she entered, Susan’s warm smile and contagious personality left a lasting impression on many throughout her lifetime. She was a painter her entire life leaving behind an oil, acrylic and watercolor collection. She received much pleasure from nature; the beach, the mountains, gardening, crocheting and making her own soap as well as kombucha. Susan heard the beat of a different drum and never bent to convention. She got tremendous joy from her granddaughters Rhoda-Jane (6) and Annabelle (3) and loved her entire family deeply. Her sensitive heart and soul will be dearly missed.

Susan was predeceased by her mother, Eileen Rhoda Kennedy Quackenboss, and biological father Robert (Chris) Christensen. She is survived by daughter, Anna Christensen Taylor and husband Reid, grandchildren Rhoda-Jane Louise and Annabelle Frances, father, William Quackenboss Sr., sisters Paula Beiger and husband Jack, Lois Havard and husband Chris, Erin Sullivan and husband Patrick, brother, William Quackenboss Jr. and wife Lisa, nieces, Katie Klek, Taylor Havard, Grace and Gwen Quackenboss, nephews, Cole Havard and Liam Sullivan.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2021.

Memorial contributions in Susan’s name can be made to: Let There Be Health 501 C3 nonprofit PO Box 3462, Mercerville NJ 08619. LTBH assists people with natural healing.

Arrangements under the direction of the Buklad Merlino Memorial Home, Hamilton, NJ.

Oh My, So sorry to hear this news of Susan's passing. I had envisioned our paths would cross again one day while here on Earth. Anna Taylor, I knew your Mom as we went to Notre Dame High School together and appropriately mentioned in the text... Susan was a wonderful free sprit, beautiful in some many ways. To you and Susan's entire family my sincerest condolences. RIP Dear Susan. Peace to All.

Dearest Susan, or as I knew you, Mrs. Kane, Your amazing daughter Anna is one of my best friends. I know your special wild spirit lives in her and I’m so grateful. You both have a laugh that makes me smile just thinking of it. I’ll never forget the kindness, love and comfort I always felt in your home. There are so many memories from my childhood that are very close to my heart. You will be missed by so many—truly.

Anna Zita-I love you. I’m here for you always. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Anna has shared so many stories about her family and I know how close you all are.

My deepest and sincere condolences…
