Stephen T. Wayda, Sr.

July 15, 1937 - February 22, 2020

Stephen T. Wayda, Sr., 82, of Whiting, NJ passed away at home on Saturday, February 22, 2020.


Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident, most recently residing in Whiting.


Stephen was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #41, American Legion Post #313, and a Teamster member since 1959. Stephen belonged to Holy Angels Parish and retired from the Trenton Times in the year 2000 after many years of service. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.


Son of the late Stephen and Marion Wood Wayda, husband of the late Nancy B. Wayda, father of the late Michael “Scott” Wayda, and grandfather of the late Robert H. Wayda, Jr. and David T. Fuller, and brother of the late Robert H. Wayda, he is survived by his six children and their spouses, Stephen T. Wayda, Nancy and Michael McTamney, Brian K. Wayda, Holly and David Fuller, Robert and Carla Wayda, and Christina and Michael Ogrodnik; five siblings and their spouses, Raymond Wayda, Dorothy Wayda, William and Michele Staub, Jim and Barbara Staub, and Cindy and Mark McGrath; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.


Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Thursday, February 27, 2020, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville. A brief prayer service will be held 11:30 a.m. at the Yardville memorial home with local clergy officiating. Burial will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.


Due to cemetery regulations the family has asked in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made a charity of the donor’s choice.
