Shirley A. Fortier, 82, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Serenity Hospice Inpatient Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton.
Born in Butler, PA she has been a longtime Hamilton area resident. She was employed with the State of New Jersey, Dept. of Treasury, OIT, and retired after more than 32 years of service. Shirley enjoyed eating out with friends, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family.
Predeceased by her parents, Raymond B. and Thelma (Zeigler) Heilman; her husband, Richard G. Fortier; her son-in-law, David Blackwell; her stepdaughter, Weda (Cookie) Murch; and her son, Scott Fortier; she is survived by her daughters, Debra Blackwell, and Kim Uhl and her husband, Michael; stepson, James Fortier; 8 grandchildren, Ami Opalski, Jeff Opalski, Steve Opalski, Ashley Karczewski, and Dominique Burget and her spouse, Frank Mooney, Richard Murch, Cindy Murch-Foley, and Billie Murch-Johnson; 5 great grandchildren, Blaise Karczewski, Tori Kratzer, Bradley Mooney, Kelsey Mooney and Zachary Mooney; as well as many dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ, with a brief prayer service at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton.
