Mary “Mare” Grala, 87, of Groveville, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Mare was a deeply caring person who cherished her family and always prioritized others’ well-being over her own. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and a true angel in the lives of those who knew her.
Born in Trenton, Mare lived in Groveville for nearly 70 years and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Yardville. In her leisure time, Mare was an avid reader, enjoyed beach days, Broadway shows, and playing cards, but most importantly, she treasured the company of her friends and family.
Mare was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage, as well as her daughters, Patricia Choromanski and Nancy Alphonse. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary (Kushnir) Kostik; her sisters, Betty Spradlin, Helen Shargo, and Margaret Celmer; and many in-laws.
She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, John and Wendy of Toms River, and Jim and Karen of Cream Ridge. She also leaves behind her sons-in-law, Mike Choromanski and Mike Alphonse (and his wife Judy); numerous nieces and nephews, particularly Michele Taynor (Ed) and Keith Celmer; eight grandchildren, Michael (Mel), Nicole (David), Steven, Kristin (Jesse), Alex (Emily), Jarrett, Adam, and Daniel; and seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Briella, Jesse, Zoey, Jaxon, Karaleigh, and Levi; as well as other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at
St. Vincent de Paul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville.
Interment will follow in the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery,
