Reverend John A. Benson, 79, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Capital Health Systems Regional Medical Center at Fuld, Trenton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ he was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Hamilton High School West, Union College and Drew University Theological School. Throughout his career, Rev. Benson served at many different Methodist Churches in the state of NJ. Even in his retirement, he officiated at many ceremonies, filling in for vacationing ministers.
Predeceased by his parents, Arthur E. and Isabelle (Carlson) Benson; and his brother, Robert Benson; he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joyce A. (Hackett) Benson; his brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Audrey Benson of Oxford, MI; 2 special nephews, Daniel Benson and his wife, Hande, and their son Nicholas, and Michael Benson and his wife, Michelle; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Home.
Interment will take place at Colonial Memorial Park.
