Michael Chopan, 69, passed away on December 22, 2019 at Capital Regional Health Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident of Mercer County, most recently residing in Hopewell Township.
Michael graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and then went on to Penn State University for his Master's degree. He earned his Doctorate degree from Cornell University.
After thirty years of employment at the State of New Jersey, Michael retired from his managerial position at the Office of Information Technology.
Michael was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church, Lambertville NJ.
Son of the late John E. and Michela Tarangioli Chopan, he is survived by his three siblings and their spouses, John E. and Mary Lou Chopan, Jr., Robert and Antoanela Chopan, and Maryann and James Ferdetta; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 3, 2020, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to GlobalCures Inc, Newton, Massachusetts for research to find a cure for cancer.
