Michael Abate

May 6, 1953 - July 25, 2023


Michael Abate, 70, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Capital Health Systems at Fuld, Trenton.


Born and raised in Edison, he has been a resident of the Trenton area since 1986. Mike was an honorably discharged Navy Veteran who proudly served his country and travelled extensively while deployed. He was employed in the Maintenance Industry and worked for Uptown, LLC for many years. He had a great sense of humor and would frequently be in Facebook Jail. In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, woodworking, fishing, gardening, and watching TV. Mike was a go getter who worked hard to take care of his family. He loved spending time with his family, most of all his grandchildren and his cats.


Predeceased by his father, Sam Abate; his son, Joseph Abate; and his grandson, Anthony; he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jennifer Abate; his mother, Doris (Kristenson) Abate; 4 children, Michael Abate, Kimberly Cuomo, Angela (Guy) Miliziano, and Andrew Abate; 4 brothers, Sammy Abate, Donald Abate, Tommy Abate, and Brian (Donna) Abate; 8 grandchildren, Kevin, Carly, Gianni, Shane, Sophia, Mikey, Madelyn and Lexi; his 6 fur babies; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.


A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the Living Hope Alliance Church, 401 Farragut Ave., Trenton, NJ 08629. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service.


There will be no calling hours prior to the service.


Services are under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.

Oh Michael Abate I'm so sorry to hear of your passing! You were like a big brother to me since I was 16! I will always remember and honor you for your humor the most, but also your spunk and standing and fighting ( especially FB) for your convictions! You have left an indelible mark on all our hearts and leave a beautiful legacy behind! I applaud you and salute you for your service! Our Heavenly Father has called you home!
