Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Franclemont McDonald, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at home surrounded by her family at the age of 97. Born in Buffalo, NY she has been a resident of Hamilton, NJ for more than 60 years. She also spent the years of The Great Depression living on a farm near Spartansburg, Crawford County, PA.
During World War II, she worked on military blimp production at Dunlop Tire in Buffalo. After arriving in the Trenton area, she worked at Amtico Tile and Holy Angels Elementary School. She was member of the St. Raphael/Holy Angels Choir and was also the secretary for the Altar Rosery Society and Togetherness Club. For many years, she was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 22 in Trenton. She graduated in 1941 from Hutchinson Central High School where she was 2nd in her class.
Daughter of the late Henry J Franclemont, Sr and Margaret L Franclemont, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William A McDonald, Sr; her three brothers Henry J Franclemont, Jr., Robert E Franclemont and Thomas J Franclemont; her three sisters-in-law Evelyn Franclemont, Jean C Franclemont and Mary Ann Franclemont; and her stepson William A McDonald, Jr.
She is survived by her son Sean M McDonald of Nashville, TN; son and daughter-in-law Patrick A and Tammy L McDonald of Hamilton; stepdaughter Elizabethann (Pat) Woolery of Batesville, IN; step-grandchildren Christine Baily and Traci King of Cincinnati, OH; 2 step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from
9:00-10:00am at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, with the funeral service beginning at 10:00am.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
At the family’s request, all visitors must wear a mask.
