Lucille A. Makoski, 91, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Morris Hall in St. Joseph Skilled Nursing.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Lucille grew up in the Elizabeth and Linden area, graduating from Battin High School, Elizabeth in 1945. She was married to William J Makoski in 1950 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Elizabeth. Together they lived in Carteret briefly before taking up residence in Clark, NJ for 60 years before moving to Lawrenceville.
Lucille retired from Arthur Johnson High School in Clark as a secretary after 18 years. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. John the Apostle in Clark, a member of the Westfield Art Association, Ladies Auxiliary of Center for Hope Hospice, and the Wednesday Morning Club of Cranford. In her spare time she enjoyed family gatherings, fun games, sing along, and bridge night with the neighborhood gang.
Daughter of the late Arthur and Frances Corey Alte, wife of the late William Makoski, and sister of the late Kathleen Quirk, Frances Alte, Esther Alte, and Arthur Alte, Jr.; she is survived by her two sons and their spouses, William and Ginny Makoski, and Thomas and Laurie Makoski; four grandchildren, Kristen Roibal and her husband Andrew, Katie Suppes and husband Mike, Sarah Graham and husband Zach, and Rachel Makoski; and one great grandson Camden Graham.
The family is grateful for the loving care that Lucille received from the staffs of St Mary’s, St Joseph’s and Kindred Hospice.
Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Monday morning, May 13, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 3500 South Broad Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clark, NJ.
