Loretta R. Applegate

February 24, 1945 - July 20, 2024


 Loretta Marie Rentner Applegate, 79, of West Windsor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2024 while at Penn Medicine at Princeton Plainsboro.

 

 Born in Trenton she moved to West Windsor Twp. when her parents bought a farm. She was educated in the West Windsor School District and graduated from Princeton High School.  Loretta was employed with McGraw Hill for more than 37 years of service, starting as a clerk for the Gregg Division in NYC and retired as a circulation manager for the Energy Publications.  She went on to work at TMA of Princeton, a nonprofit organization, starting in 2008. In her spare time, she was a Girl Scout Leader, was involved with the Little League; bowled on a team for many years and enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.

 

Predeceased by her parents, William L, Rentner, Jr. and Joan Lamek Rentner; she is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James J. Applegate; daughter, Loretta M. Applegate; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Esther Applegate; granddaughter, Cindy Leonardi; 3 grandsons, Gerry (Muthu) Leonardi, Kevin Leonardi, and her pride and joy, Liam Lincoln Applegate; a great-granddaughter, Grace Leonardi; a brother Bill (Jeanette) Rentner; sister, Kathleen (Kenneth) Paczkowski; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron and Joann Applegate and brother-in-law, Dan Heller;  and favorite cousins who she traveled with, Patty, Joann and Florence; as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.

 

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 626 South Olden Avenue, Trenton, NJ.

 

Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.
