Lilah Gumbas, 50, of Hamilton passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at home.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Trenton/Hamilton area resident.
Lilah worked for the State of New Jersey for the past 21 years, she worked in the Department of Labor and most recently in Banking and Insurance. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to Luke Bryan concerts, going on cruises with her family, taking lots, and lots of pictures of her family, and shopping, she was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees fan. Lilah was always the life of the party, she loved to sing and dance, and always brought a smile to everyone’s face with her tremendous spirt. She also loved to decorate her house for all the holidays, but most all was a loving wife, daughter, mother, and friend who adored and loved her family.
Daughter of the late James Shankle, sister of the late James C. Shankle, she is survived by her loving husband of 17 years John E. Gumbas, her two children, Ben Shankle and Kaitlyn Gumbas; her mother Josephine Hernandez and her husband Felix; her sister Theresa Kramarz and her husband Theo; mother -in-law and father-in-law Carole and John Gumbas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Relatives and friends may attend a visitation on Saturday, January 23, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton. A brief prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. at the memorial home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
