Joseph Angelo D’Errico, 78, of Columbus, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.
Born in Trenton, Joseph resided in the Chambersburg section of Trenton most of his life before moving to Hamilton in 1992 and then Columbus where he lived for the past 7 years.
Joseph attended St. Joachim’s Parish Grammar School, Trenton Catholic Boys High School and graduated from Cathedral High school of Trenton in 1964. He attended Trenton Junior College prior to serving in the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a Medic in 1968. Joseph pursued his degree in Mortuary Science from the American Academy, McAllister Institute of New York City. He then began his career in Funeral Service with The Abbey Funeral Directors, one of the most prestigious funeral homes in New York City. Over the years he had the privilege of serving both State and Religious Dignitaries, members of the arts and entertainment world, and families from all walks of life. He was the former owner of Chambers Funeral Home of Trenton, Hamilton -Brenna - Cellini Funeral Home in Hamilton and Parkside Funeral Home in Ewing, before opening D’Errico Funeral Chapel in Yardville. He was very well known for his skills in restorative art and as a kind, generous and humble businessman who was very giving, helping many people through the years in many ways.
Joseph was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish/St. Joachim’s Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Trenton Council No. 355, Italian American National Hall of Fame, New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association, Mercer County Funeral Directors Association and The National Funeral Directors Association.
Joseph was predeceased by his mother and father Concetta “Connie” and Angelo “Red” D’Errico, and two very special friends, Gregory Dixon and Manuel Silva.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rosann (nee: Buhan), his stepson, Theodore Oszczakiewicz, his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Anthony J. and Ann D’Errico, four nephews, John A. D’Errico, Anthony J. D’Errico, II and his wife Kelly, Michael A. D’Errico and his wife Robin, and Mark A. D’Errico and his wife Stacey; great nieces and nephews, Dylan, Ella, Emme, Dominic, Angelo, Luca, Isabella and Enzo, several cousins and many dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels – St. Joachim’s Church, 20-56 Butler Street in Trenton.
Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Hamilton.
Calling hours will be Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the D’Errico Funeral Chapel, LLC (Located in Buklad Merlino Facility), 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ 08620.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 21-23-Bayard Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.

We are Deeply Sorry for the loss of Joe our Condolences to the Derrico Family Joe was. A amazing Man who will leave a legacy behind and will never be forgotten. Joe was a Great guy and was like a second Father to my brother Augie Jr. and Taught my brother everything he knows today in Morturary Science .Joe was very educated in every thing he did and was very liked in the community and a very intelligent Man who will never be forgotten !
