John Rodriguez

June 29, 1955 - October 23, 2024


John Rodriguez, 69, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at home.

 

Born in, Lares, Puerto Rico, he moved to Elizabeth, NJ at the age of two, moved to the Trenton area in 1974 and has been a local resident ever since. He retired from Trenton Folding Box after  more than 20 years of service. John was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony ‘s Church in Trenton. He met the love of his life, Joan in 1990 and they spent the next 23 years together before she passed away in 2013. He was an avid sports fan who had a vast knowledge of the game and the stats, loved the Mets and the Jets.  He enjoyed Marvel and DC comics and movies, and trips to Atlantic City and Parx Casino. He had a great sense of humor, often making jokes with his family and friends. He was an avid follower of current events and took a keen interest in politics. He enjoyed his coffee throughout the day. Most of all John loved  his family, and cherished the time spent making memories with them. 

 

Predeceased by his parents,  Juan and Santa (Santiago) Rodriguez; and his beloved wife, Joan Irene (Sutterley) Rodriguez; he is survived by his siblings, Iris Ramos, Rev. Father Nestor Rodriguez, and Luis M (Katherine) Cancel; a step son, Brian (Gina) Sutterley; granddaughter, Alexis Sutterley; brother-in-law, David (Linda) Sutterley;  3 nieces, Vanessa (Johnny) Ramos Donahue, Kristina (Jay) Volb, and Kristy Sutterley; 2 nephews, Christopher Cancel, and David Sutterley; as well as great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

 

Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road, Yardville, NJ.

 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 626 South Olden Avenue, Trenton, NJ.

 

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.

 

There will be no calling hours or services at the funeral home Wednesday prior to mass.
