John F. Janeczek

August 15, 1925 - March 2, 2020


John Janeczek, 94, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020. A native and lifelong resident of Lawrenceville, John was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII in the Rhineland Campaign and the Central European Campaign, and was a member the American Legion Post 414. He was employed for many years as a Facilities Manager for Wells Fargo Bank in Trenton. John was also a self-employed carpenter and home builder who built the home where he and his wife, Dot, raised their family and still live today. He was known for his sharp sense of humor.


Predeceased by his parents, John and Bertha (Hludzinski) Janeczek, and his brother Edwin Janeczek; he is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Krause) Janeczek; his children, Nancy (John) Lauricella, David (Linda) Janeczek, and Sharon (David) Rigney; his brothers, Bill (Judy) Janecek and James (Ann) Janecek; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Maura), David (Amanda), Kristen, Ryan, Katherine (Beaux), Jessica, and Madison; 3 great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild due to make his appearance in May; his brother-in-law Donald Krause, as well as many nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 300 South Main Street, Pennington, NJ 08534. Visiting hours for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.


All services are under the direction of Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
