February 3, 1940 - October 14, 2021
Joanne I. Lacy, 81, of Hamilton Square, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. Joanne was an Art teacher at Emily C. Reynolds Middle School in Hamilton, retiring after 39 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and relaxing in her yard doing her crossword puzzles, and spending her evenings dining out with dear friends. Joanne loved any time spent with her granddaughter, Rowan, whether doing jigsaw puzzles at home, or attending her many activities and gymnastics meets. She was an avid traveler, cruising to multiple destinations with her late husband, Jack, enjoying annual family vacations to Surf City, LBI, and embarking on dozens of adventures to Mexico with her daughter, Shannon. Most of all she loved spoiling her daughter and granddaughter. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Daughter of the late Joseph (Pat) and Ida Tietjen Fitzpatrick, wife of the late John R. Lacy, former Hamilton Township Councilman; she is survived by her daughter, Shannon Rae Lacy and her husband Jaime Cancel; her granddaughter, Rowan Lacy-Cancel; cousins John Fitzpatrick, Fred Pera, and his wife Renee; lifelong best friend Mary Jane Costanzo; as well as cherished extended family and close friends. Visitation for family and friends will be held on, October 20, 2021, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Yardville Memorial Home, 30 Yardville-Allentown Road in Yardville, with a prayer service at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in Princeton Memorial Park

My prayers and sympathy go out to her family and everyone who knew Joanne. I have so many memories of sitting in her mothers kitchen and her in mine. We were best friends who lost track of each other after graduation and only recently found each other. I will treasure those moments. Marietta Vizzini Fahy
