Joann "Jody" Abdelwahabe

November 2, 1961 - November 6, 2023

Joann ("Jody" as some knew her) Abdelwahabe, 62, of Somerset, passed away peacefully, Monday, November 6, 2023 at Complete Care Center in Westfield, NJ.

Born in New Brunswick, and raised in Highland Park, she was a longtime NJ area resident. She was commonly known as Joann, but was also known as Jody. She graduated from Highland Park HighSchool, and attended Westminster Choir College, and graduated from Mercer County Community College with a degree in Nursing. Joann loved to sing, and she was a member of several different area choirs. As a former client of the Homefront Organization, she was very involved with their “ArtSpace” program and sold many of her paintings to benefit them.

Joann was an amazing storyteller and could always find the good in everyone. She had a great sense of humor, and a most positive spirit. She could always bring happiness and joy to those around her. Her family and friends were very important to her, but most of all she loved her family, she loved them as deep as the ocean.

Abdelwahabe and her companion , Elvis Deleon, and Ruth I. Abdelwahabe; 2 sisters, Jill DeGregory, Susan Carnevale and her husband, Victor; 2 brothers, John Robbins, and James A. DeGregory, III and his wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Antonio, Max, Annelis, Nowel; and her very best best friend, Denora Hinton; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
