James Wah, passed away at 90 on Thursday, July 30, 2020, after a brief illness and hospitalization. Born in Trenton, NJ, James was a lifelong resident where his family owned Wah laundry. In 2016, he moved to Hamilton, NJ.
Son of the late Lun Wah and Wong Shee Wah, he was also predeceased by his brothers, William Wah & George Wah, and his sisters, Yina Ho & May Zung. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Choy Wah; his three children, Jeffrey Wah, Karen Wah and Katharine Wah and husband, David Ng; two beloved grandchildren, Kendall Ng and Dylan Ng; one brother, Fred Wah and his wife Lynn; two sisters, Margaret Ma and Mary Hing; sister-in-law Sondra Wah as well as many and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Following graduation from Trenton Central High School, James enrolled in the College on Engineering Newark (now NJIT) and earned a B.A. in mechanical engineering. After college graduation, James entered into military service in the United States Army and rose to the rank of Technical Sargent. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and earned a Bronze star and United Nations medal of honor. After his army service, James went on to work at Congoleum and Walnut Hill; finally spending his pre-retirement years at Cenlar working alongside his daughter Karen Wah. Post retirement, he devoted his time helping raise his grandchildren, enjoyed going to the casinos, watching his granddaughter play volleyball, tinkering with small engine repair and working around the house. A lifelong avid reader, James enjoyed mysteries and thriller novels.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Buklad–Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad St, Hamilton, NJ. A brief prayer service will be held at 11:00am. Burial will be private at Greenwood cemetery.
