Gregorio D. Hernandez, 90, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family
on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
Predeceased by his parents, Domingo and Romana (Montejoica) Hernandez, his
brothers José, Guillermo, and Titi, and his sisters Angelita, Inez, Ofelia, Saturnina, and Rosita. Gregorio is survived by his adoring wife of 65 years, Hilda Hernandez, their three children,
Leonardo Hernandez and his wife Pamela, Mercedes Ramos and her husband Gilberto, and Cristobal Hernandez and his wife Yusimi, seven grandchildren, Gilbert, Brandon, Elizabeth,
Dylan, Katerina, Curtis, and Emily, one great grandson, Rowan, his sisters Dulce and Nina, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and other cherished relatives.
Born in Cuba on December 24, 1931, Gregorio was raised as a hard-working, selfless man of great honor and immense pride who followed in the footsteps of his father as a farmer. Upon witnessing grave injustices and inexorable repression, he became an avid fighter for the rights of others and sacrificed his own freedom. Subsequently, under difficult circumstances and with great sorrow, he left his treasured country, and more importantly, his father and siblings, to seek
a new life for his wife and children in the United States. As they established their life in New
Jersey, he worked 12-hour shifts and at times held two jobs. Everything he did was for his family.
Every penny earned and every decision that he made in life was driven by extreme love for
them. Gregorio was a responsible and dependable man who could be counted on and was
always willing to help anyone, at any time. The depth and breadth of love he demonstrated for
all he knew is immeasurable. Although Gregorio lost his courageous battle with cancer, he left
behind an incredible legacy for all to model.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at the Buklad-Merlino
Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the
Assumption, 151 North Warren Street, Trenton.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 from
5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.

Gregorio falleció despues que sus padres, Domingo y Romana (Montejoica) Hernández, sus hermanos
José, Guillermo y Titi, y sus hermanas Angelita, Inez, Ofelia, Saturnina, y Rosita. A Gregorio le sobreviven
su adorada esposa un matrimonio de 65 años, Hilda Hernández, sus tres hijos, Leonardo Hernández y su
esposa Pamela, Mercedes Ramos y su esposo Gilberto, y Cristóbal Hernández y su esposa Yusimi, siete
nietos, Gilbert, Brandon, Elizabeth, Dylan, Katerina, Curtis y Emily, un bisnieto, Rowan, su hermanas Nina
Y Dulce, y muchas sobrinas, sobrinos, primos, amigos queridos y otros parientes valorados.
Nacido en Cuba el 24 de diciembre de 1931, Gregorio se crió como un hombre trabajador, desinteresado,
de gran honor e inmenso orgullo que siguió los pasos de su padre como agricultor. Al presenciar graves
injusticias y una represión inexorable, se convirtió en un ávido luchador por los derechos de los demás y
sacrificó su propia libertad. Posteriormente, en circunstancias difíciles y con gran dolor, dejó su preciado
país y, lo que es más importante, a su padre y hermanos, para buscar una nueva vida para su esposa e
hijos en los Estados Unidos. Cuando establecieron su vida en Nueva Jersey, trabajó en turnos de 12 horasy, en ocasiones, tuvo dos trabajos. Todo lo que hizo fue por su familia. Cada centavo ganado y cada decisión que tomó en la vida fue impulsada por un amor extremo por ellos. Gregorio era un hombre responsable y confiable en el que se podía contar y siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a cualquiera, encualquier momento. La profundidad y amplitud del amor que demostró por todo lo que sabía es inconmensurable. Aunque Gregorio perdió su valiente batalla contra el cáncer, dejó un legado increíble para que todos lo modelen.
Los servicios funerarios comenzarán a las 9:15 a.m. el martes 4 de enero de 2022 en el Buklad-Merlino
Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton.
La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará a las 10:30 a.m. en la Catedral de Santa María de la Asunción,
151 North Warren Street, Trenton.
Las visitas para familiares y amigos se llevarán a cabo el lunes 3 de enero de 2022 de
5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. en la Casa Memorial Buklad-Merlino.
