July 15, 1931 - December 13, 2022
Eugene J. Rittman, 91, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 while at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Milltown, he lived in East Brunswick until moving to Hamilton in 1982. He moved to Toms River in October. Eugene was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran having served his Country during the Korean War, receiving both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was employed as a Facilities Manager with Johnson and Johnson and retired after more than 40 years of service.
Eugene (Gene) was an avid fisherman. Nothing made him happier than the times spent out on his boat, fishing and crabbing with his kids and grandkids. He was also a talented woodworker and craftsman. He had an amazing woodshop in his home where he made everything from tables and chairs to toys, pictures, and gifts, many of which he would donate to church fundraisers. Gene had a real gift for gardening. From vegetables and flowers to his immaculate lawn, Gene’s landscaping skills were to be admired. He shared his love of gardening with the church, where he and his wife worked hard for many years to keep the grounds beautiful! Most of all, Eugene loved his family, and he set an outstanding example through his faith and love for the Lord.
