Leone Ann (Aplin) Messersmith, 92, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on hospice care on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Born in Potsdam, NY she was raised in West Stockholm, NY and a graduate of Potsdam High School. She went on to study at Watertown School of Commerce, graduating in 1949. After graduation, she worked at the law firm of Bowers and Howard in Canton, NY. She met her future husband, Robert, who was a veterinarian practicing in Canton, NY. They eventually settled in Lawrence Township, NJ to raise their family.
Some of her passions included painting, bowling, and antique clocks and watches.
Predeceased by her parents, Alfred Henry Aplin and Ivy Valetta Chard Aplin, her son-in-law David Carpenter and her husband of 65 years, Robert Earl Messersmith; she is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Ann Carpenter, Karen Ruth Messersmith (David Harkin), and Linda Lee Esposti; her brother-in-law James (Nancy) Messersmith; five grandchildren, Devon, Terence and Brandon (Yari) Carpenter, and Benjamin and Andrew Esposti; great grandchildren, Daevany and Jace Carpenter, her son-in-law, Peter Esposti; niece, Amy (John) Endler, and nephew, Jon Messersmith.
Services are private and under the direction of the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Homes, Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice Care at 56 Georgetown Road, Bordentown, NJ 08505 in Leone’s memory.
