Carole L. (Grice) Gilbert, 83, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at RWJ Hospital in Hamilton.
Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Carole graduated from Hamilton High West High School in 1955 and later in life pursued her paralegal degree at Mercer County Community College.
Carole began her career in 1955 at NJ Manufacturers Insurance Co., Worker’s Compensation Department in Trenton during her senior year of high school. After graduating high school, she maintained her position full time working under three attorneys until November 1959. She then traveled and lived for a number of years in the Midwest before returning to Trenton, NJ in 1965 to raise her family. Carole enjoyed traveling with family and friends, sewing, knitting, craft making, genealogy and spending time at her home in Long Beach Island.
In 1965 Carole entered the business world working full time as a secretary, office administrator and performed paralegal functions for the Kelsey’s law firm in Trenton until the Kelsey’s retirement where she continued to work for Anthony J. Apicelli Jr. law firm until her retirement in 2007.
Daughter of the late Albert E. Grice Jr. (for whom Albert E. Grice Middle School was named for) and Anna nee: Feltes, sister of the late Patricia Grice and she was also predeceased by many close and dear friends. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine B. (Gilbert) Maher, and her partner John J. Andrews of Hamilton, her son, Jerome W. Gilbert Jr. and his partner Rhonda Cupp of Cincinnati, OH, her 3 grandchildren, Samantha R. Gilbert, Téa N. Gilbert and Tyler C. Gilbert all of Cincinnati, OH and several dear relatives and friends.
Due to public regulations, a private funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street in Hamilton. Private burial will be held at the Colonial Memorial Park in Hamilton. Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Sorrows St. Anthony Parish, 3816 E. State Street Extension, Hamilton, NJ 08619-2499.
