Antonio E. Nibbs, 81, of Trenton, passed away peacefully at Serenity Hospice at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton surrounded by his loving family.
Born in St. Thomas Virgin Islands, he moved to New York at the age of 7. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy who proudly served on the USS Intrepid from 1962-1967. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and took part in the recovery of the Space Shuttle Gemini. Upon active-duty discharge, he continued to work with the USS Intrepid, passing on its legacy to future generations. He is a proud graduate of Fordham University. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography and gardening. He was a lifelong Mets, Jets, and Knicks fan.
He was predeceased by his parent, Raphael and Idalia (Henry) Nibbs, and his late siblings; he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (Leddick) Nibbs;
his daughter, Angela Nibbs; son, Christopher Nibbs; 3 sisters, Abigail, Marilyn, and Cheryl;
and the family’s beloved dog Max; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, from
11:00 am – 12:30 p.m. at the Buklad-Merlino Memorial Home, 2141 South Broad Street, Hamilton.
Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. SHARP in the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, North Hanover Twp., NJ.
Due to cemetery restrictions on flowers, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Antonio’s name to the USS Intrepid’s scholarship program for children/grandchildren of veterans.
